TATRA Wealth

The name “TATRA” (taa-truh) originates from the Tatra mountains in Slovakia where Matthew’s family emigrated from to provide better opportunities for future generations. Matthew has always been motivated to impact the lives of others, just as his ancestors did.

We serve a diverse set of individuals. Typically, our clients are busy raising a family, pursuing demanding careers, running a business or preparing for retirement while trying to manage their increasingly complex finances.

Wealth is defined by you. Our mission is to help you gain clarity on your desired destination and help guide you on your personal journey.

Matthew’s journey to becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM began with a question – “How well do we direct our lives based on goals and values?” This was a question posed to Matthew while enrolled in Columbia Business School’s Personal Leadership program and led him to uncover his “why”: doing impactful work that makes a difference in peoples’ lives, while leading by example for his children to give them the courage to pursue their own dreams. This culminated in Matthew founding TATRA Wealth.

Matthew combined his passion for finance and personal development to help others gain clarity on their goals and use money as a tool to achieve their vision of a life well-lived. As a former college football player, Matthew believes in the importance of a collaborative, team-based approach with clients. Matthew draws on his 15 years of financial services experience to build and implement values-based plans for individuals and families that provide peace of mind. Matthew’s experience working in investment banking and corporate strategy enables him to share a unique business perspective with entrepreneurs to maximize the potential of their most valuable asset.

Outside of work, Matthew and his wife Nicole reside in Ramsey, NJ with their two sons (Luke and John) and daughter (Natalie). Beyond spending time with his family, Matthew enjoys anything that gets him outdoors, including golfing, hiking and biking. Matthew also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for St. Nicholas of Myra Orthodox Church in New York City, a parish that his family founded over 100 years ago.

A dedicated and experienced administrative assistant, Renee collaborates with Matthew and his team throughout the financial planning process. From client communications and service requests to account opening and appointment scheduling, Renee works as a dependable team player using critical thinking to solve even the most complex questions.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Money Movement – Contributions/Disbursement
  • Schedule Management

Prior to working with Matthew, Renee spent 21 years at her previous firm as a registered office assistant to five financial advisors, including their top advisor. It is in this role that Renee realized her unique ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. She understands the importance of relationship building with clients, coworkers, and sponsor companies and is knowledgeable of many aspects of the business.

Outside of the office, Renee enjoys visiting her two older children in Texas, in addition to doing  things and going places with her son that is still at home.  Other favorite pastimes include reading, hiking, kayaking, going for walks, hanging out with friends and her dog, Odin.
